So, as you may notice, my blog is called "Jack Lobster" and yet my name is not Jack. Well, to set the record straight - here is where the name came from:
I have a wife (yes, even geeks get these sometimes) and as part of the package, she came with a younger brother named "Jack" (ok..so this answers part of the question). Now, my wife has a few nicknames for her little brother, most of which are very unflattering. The one that seems to be the most common is "Jack @#$&*" where the "@#$&*" is a reference to an illegitimate child....or...a child born to a mother who is not married?....rhymes with "mastered"?...starts with a "b"?
Ok, once you've figured out what the nickname is supposed to be, you must take into account that I have some very young daughters (seems I heard somewhere that guys who work around computers have a statistically higher percentage of daughters...wonder if thats true?...I'll leave it for another blog later)...Back to the point, my young daughters shouldn't hear my wife use the nickname for her younger brother. One day while pronouncing it, my 2 yr daughter noticed that it sounds amazingly like "Lobster" (hence the 2 parts of the title).
Now..why would I use the nickname of my young brother-in-law? Well, it seems that I'm always explaining the inner-workings of something to him (could be mechanical, could be programmatic, could be anything really). I figure if I'm going to do it for him, I might as well put up a blog and enter some of that crazy stuff here.
Hopefully the content I put here will be of interest and will actually answer questions for folks. Who knows, I may talk about programming, or cooking, or home repair, or even blacksmithing. Maybe just rambling on too if I don't have anything new.
Anyway, thanks for visiting - we'll chat soon
